Figures Show Decline in Economic Activity for February

Figures released this week by StatsCan indicate a 0.2% decline in overall Canadian economic activity for the month of February 2008. The StatsCan, indicates that most of the decrease is accounted for by drops in wholesale trade and manufacturing activity, although similar declines were recorded in retail sales, oil and gas exploration, and in the transportation and financial sectors. While some sectors of the economy did post positive results, they were not enough to offset the declines.(Click Here...)

StatsCan will release data on the gross domestic product growth or decline for the month of March on May 30.
