Federal Government reinstates

home ecoENERGY grant program

                                                    
                

The federal government has announced that the ecoENERGY retrofit program for residential homes will be available again for qualifying purchases and installations made from June 6, 2011 to March 31, 2012. The program provides homeowners who make qualifying changes to their homes to make them more energy-efficient with grants of up to $5,000.


Two important changes have been made to the program. First, anyone wishing to participate must first register directly with the program and must obtain an energy evaluation of their home before making any changes. Second, in order to receive any grant, receipts for expenditures undertaken must be provided to an energy adviser when the post-retrofit evaluation is carried out.
